MIM

The Master of International Management (MIM) program at Portland State University was created in direct response to developments in the global economy. Japan, the world’s second largest economy, is being joined by China, South Korea, Vietnam, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and other countries to form a massive Pacific Rim marketplace that rivals the economies of Europe and America combined. A global economic realignment is happening... and it is happening now.

Asia’s rapid economic growth is creating a vast new consumer base all across the region. Meanwhile, products exported to world markets from Asia continue to grow. Companies everywhere are recognizing that they must be competitive in this booming Asian marketplace if they wish to remain successful in today’s global economy. These companies need professionals with business skills as well as Asian language and cultural knowledge.

Our MIM program pairs a rigorous business management curriculum with a unique Asian language and culture curriculum. No other graduate business program in the United States offers this exclusive focus on the dynamic markets of Asia’s Pacific Rim. No other graduate business program can give you such effective and targeted training for success in any Asia-related business venture.

With the MIM program you will get:

  • A business curriculum that takes full advantage of the faculty and resources of PSU’s internationally acclaimed School of Business Administration.
  • A unique Asia language and culture curriculum that focuses on the speaking skills most needed for business success in the region.
  • An accelerated program that affords stronger professional and social connections than traditional MBA programs.
  • An exclusive Three-Week Tour of Asian Business Capitals, where you will have opportunities to practice your language skills and engage with Asian business professionals in their work environments.
  • A truly international experience, with a student body featuring 40% foreign nationals.
  • Direct connections to the regional business community, providing students with many outstanding opportunities for career exploration and planning, internships, real-world project experience and job hunting.

MSFA

The Master of Science in Financial Analysis (MSFA) degree is an accelerated program with a dual focus on finance and accounting. This degree fulfills the fifth-year education requirement for all Certified Public Accountants.

The MSFA program provides a larger context for the students’ academic understanding of accounting and finance practices. The goal is to give MSFA students a vision of what it means to pursue sustainable financial management practices that reflect the core values of the PSU School of Business Administration.

Due to its integrated finance component, the MSFA degree gives students a broad overview of the world of professional finance. Our coursework integrates decision-making and business strategy with accounting and finance, making the degree a superior choice for those interested in management-track positions in these fields. Because our curriculum covers this broad territory, the MSFA program also prepares students for a wide range of other finance-related careers, including investment management and corporate financial management.

With the MSFA program you will get:

  • One of the only programs nationally that focuses on both accounting and finance. The program ensures an understanding of how these functions contribute to the overall strategy of organizations.
  • An accelerated graduate business degree that can be completed in less than a year for full-time students.
  • Colleagues in the classroom with an already advanced understanding of finance and accounting. While other graduate business programs offer introductory courses in these areas that assume little or no experience, the MSFA requires certain academic coursework prior to entering the program. This ensures the highest caliber of students in these specific subject areas.
  • A business curriculum that takes full advantage of the faculty and resources of PSU’s internationally acclaimed School of Business Administration. The same faculty who teach finance and accounting in the MBA+ program teach MSFA students.
  • Direct connections to the regional business community, providing students with many outstanding opportunities for career exploration and planning, internships, real-world project experience, and job hunting.
  • Options for study abroad.
