CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Thanks to our location in downtown Portland and our deep connections to the business professionals and alumni who work in the area, PSU graduate business students have far greater opportunities to network and prepare for their future career paths.
Examples include:
Internships: Many students pursue internship opportunities on a part-time basis. Internships offer students experience in applying the skills they learn in the classroom to real-world business issues. Several opportunities are posted each term.
Executive Briefings: A class required of all MBA+ students in which industry professionals lead panel discussions on a range of topical business issues.
Alumni Networking Events: These events connect students to some of the more than 2,000 SBA alumni in the Portland metropolitan area.
Mentor Program: MBA+ students are paired with executives in their chosen fields for informal conversations about career options and planning.
Guest Speakers and Lecturers: Industry professionals often teach classes, bringing the “real world” into the classroom. Recent instructors drawn from industry include:
- David Layzell, Director of Business Practice Excellence, Intel Corporation
- Brian McCarthy, formerly of Microsoft
- Candace Petersen, InFocus
- Dave Garten, formerly of Intel Corporation
- Mike McBreen, Director of Global Apparel Operations, Nike
Business Advisory Council: This is a group of 40 industry professionals who meet with faculty, deans and students quarterly to guide the school to best serve the economic needs of the region.
