CAREER SERVICES
The School of Business offers comprehensive career services through a range of programs, events and resources to assist students in developing a customized strategic career plan. Our objective isn’t to just help you find a job after graduation, but to prepare you for long-term professional success.
Whether you are begining a new career, transitioning into a new industry, or growing within your current organization, we encourage you to be active participants in your own career development and to take advantage of resources provided by Career Services throughout the duration of your program. Those resources, available to all Portland State graduate business students include:
Career Search Workshop Series
In the Fall, Winter, and Spring terms, a series of core workshops are held to help students prepare for their career search. Workshops are:
- Developing your strategic career plan
- Resume and cover letter writing
- Developing professional connections
- Interviewing and negotiations
Additional workshops offered throughout the year include: self-assessment, mock interviews and international student resources.
One-on-One Career Coaching
Students who have completed the core workshop series are eligible for one-on-one career coaching designed to further customize their strategic career plan.
Job Postings
Our business partners recognize the quality of our graduate business students and regularly post jobs targeting PSU graduates. Job postings cover a broad range of function, industry and experience-level.
Internship Postings
Internships offer students experience in applying the skills they learn in the classroom to real-world business issues. Internship opportunities are available throughout the academic year and during the summer.
Mentor Program
Graduate business students have the opportunity to participate in the Graduate Business Mentor Program in the last year of their program. Students are paired with executives for informal conversations about career development, information interviews and professional networking.
On Campus Recruiting
Each year the School of Business schedules several recruiting sessions on campus. These events are a good opportunity to see how local companies approach the hiring process. To stay informed about these opportunities, please regularly read the Friday Blast Email from the Graduate Business Programs Office. These events are also posted on our Calendar.
Professional Networking Opportunities
The most important career resource available to students is the vast spectrum of networking opportunities that take place throughout the year. These include events such as Connect to Community, Executive in Residence Program, Breakfast Business Briefings and others. Most students report that they obtain their post-graduate degree employment through networking – we encourage you to make time to participate in these events. Please watch the Calendar and Friday Blast Emails for information about upcoming events.
For information on these resources, and others available to current students, please contact the Director of Career Services and Corporate Outreach .
