BUSINESS PROJECTS
As a final capstone course, each student in the MBA + program will work on a Final Business Project before graduation. These projects put all the theoretical knowledge to work, giving students the chance to gain experience in applying coursework through experience testing, strategy formulation, and teamwork to solve problems and build new skills. Students work in small 3 to 4 person groups with a local, regional or international company and commit 600 hours over 3-5 months to complete this “real world” business project. PSU academic advisors work with both MBA + and students and the client company to provide teams with a company overview, access to key stakeholders, a project proposal, schedules and focus. New projects are started four times each year. Clients approve and pay for any direct costs associated with the project.
Under the direction of an advisor, small teams of MBA + students work on a real-world project for a company or not-for-profit organization. These projects relate to your area of concentration and may have a component such as Finance, International Business, Sustainability or Innovation. This is an opportunity for you to put all your MBA + skills to work, and for you and your team to make a difference for a company with a real-world problem which you will solve. Some clients have estimated that the value these projects bring to their companies is around $50,000.
Quotes from PSU Student Business Project Partners
"The team was outstanding. Their youth, energy, hope and competence made it a pleasure for myself and others that worked with them."
Jay Berens
VP/Business Development, TecoMetrix, Inc
"We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the two international teams for their tremendous research and analysis of our new product. Their observations and insights confirmed some of our thoughts as well as opened up some new thinking in directions and uncovered some potential obstacles. We have forwarded copies of the reports to our European and Australian sales offices for incorporation into their business planning."
Randy Norris
