FOCUS ON LEADERSHIP & INNOVATION

 

Leadership

Good leaders are good stewards—of their employees, their companies and their communities. In the MBA +, your leadership skills are assessed and developed with the help of your MBA coach, and through the integration of managerial competencies in each of the core MBA courses. No other MBA program offers such focus and integration.

 

The first stage in the development of leadership skills is our 360-degree evaluation, which is based on a model used in industry around the world. Through this evaluation you’ll find out very quickly what are your strengths and weaknesses. Then you will be assigned an MBA coach who will work with you one-on-one to help you develop into a well balanced manager.

 

After your first year, you will participate in a Leadership Immersion Course.   This is a two-day business simulation workshop designed to assess students’ technical and leadership skills. Your leadership skills are put the test in this intense environment and following the Immersion, you will meet again with the MBA + Coach to receive developmental feedback.

 

Innovation

Innovation is essential to the success of any organization. In the MBA +, you’ll learn how to manage innovation from new idea to new product, and how to incorporate innovation into even the most traditional business practices.

                 

A foundational course in the MBA + is Pioneering Innovation. This course provides students with an understanding of the innovation process and how it can be sustained in the global economy. Additionally, the course will include methods for fostering the creative process, both individually and within the firm.

 

Students have the opportunity to continue to develop a compelling new venture concept they identified in the Pioneering Innovation course.  Through courses, workshops and mentoring our MBA + students are able to pursue their entrepreneurial endeavors.

 

Sustainability

Significant opportunities exist for creating value, serving society and addressing environmental issues.  Our MBA + program seeks to provide students a strong business foundation along with the sensibilities and skill sets to recognize and capture sustainability-inspired value creation. 

 

Rooted in the belief that economic, social, and ecological systems are interdependent, our MBA + exposes students to the core ideas of corporate responsibility, ethics and stewardship, and living systems. 

 

Students are able to deepen their applied skills and knowledge in the area of sustainability through the Managing Sustainable Enterprise concentration.  Choosing from courses such as Social Innovation, Product Design and Stewardship and Metrics for Sustainable Enterprise, students gain an understanding of how business can profitably create value for society.
