CAREER SERVICES

We engage in a dynamic process for assisting students and alumni in their career development. This process includes:

  • Assessment of each individual’s knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Research of the current job market to determine the proper “fit.”
  • Development and implementation of a career marketing process that includes resumes, cover letters, a various other materials.
  • Connections through business partners and alumni to provide opportunities for employment.
  • Training in networking to increase professional marketability and profitable business relationships.

Our MIM career development program starts with an assessment during the first week of classes, continues with the completion of marketing materials by the end of the third term, and concludes by assisting our students with interviews and negotiations for the proper position. This uniquely comprehensive Career Services program provides great value to our students, alumni and business partners.

Throughout your studies, you’ll be preparing for a position that fits your new skill set. Maybe you’re already working but want to move up the command chain, or want to switch industries. Or maybe you’re just beginning your career. Wherever you are in your career path, we can help you find positions through a wide range of career development and placement activities, including job fairs and recruiting events. We’ll put you in touch with some of the 2,000 School of Business Administration alumni in the region through networking events and our mentor program. You can also sharpen your interview and resume writing skills so you’re ready for the recruiters.

Career Services at the PSU School of Business Administration will work with you throughout your time in the MIM program and beyond. We will help each student gain a thorough understanding of his or her skills, dreams and desires, so that together we can chart the best career path for every individual in our programs.

We offer a wide-range of programs and services designed to connect area employers with our graduate business students, including the following:

Recruiting & Outreach

Employers interested in hiring graduates of PSU business programs and in promoting their company have a variety of recruiting and outreach options.

On-Campus Recruiting

Each year the School of Business Administration schedules several recruiting sessions on campus. These events are a good opportunity to see how local companies approach the hiring process.

Internship Program

The internship program matches student educational goals with local business needs by providing students with practical business experience that reinforces their academic training.

MIM International Business Research Projects

The MIM International Business Research Project program offers area businesses and organizations the opportunity to “hire” MIM students who are in the final stages of their graduate-level degree program. Throughout the program’s history, companies and organizations of all sizes and in numerous industries have sponsored a project. These projects represent the full range of activities, from developing a business plan or a marketing strategy, to performing financial analysis or feasibility studies for a new product.

On Campus Speakers

We have many speaking opportunities at the School of Business Administration each year, both in the classroom and in lecture series and speaking events. You will be able to see a wide variety of business professionals from companies of all sizes.

MIM Mentor Program

The MIM Mentor Program is designed to provide an opportunity for students to gain clarity on their career goals and develop their own business network through a mentor relationship with a business professional. Mentors serve multiple roles for a student - friend, coach, colleague, and teacher. With the guidance and support of a mentor, students are given opportunities to observe the work environment, learn about the range of career opportunities available within a profession or company, and develop confidence in interacting with business professionals.

Job Posting

The School of Business Administration offers a free job posting service to employers seeking to hire students and alumni from the Graduate Business Programs at PSU.

Information Sessions

Employers seeking to increase awareness of their company among business students are encouraged to conduct information sessions any time of the year. Most presentations are 30 to 40 minutes long, with a focus on career opportunities for graduate business students.
