WHY RECRUIT MIM STUDENTS?
Most employers would generally agree that the constant in today’s workplace is change. Today’s workplace is not only an increasingly diverse environment requiring greater flexibility and collaboration in order to stay competitive, it also depends on a global perspective like never before.
MIM students are prepared to meet this challenging environment in many ways:
- Collaboration: MIM students are skillful collaborators, practiced in working in cohort teams of individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Core Training: MIM students are rigorously trained in subject matters core to a superior graduate business education: finance, accounting, marketing, strategy and human resources. These studies culminate in the highly practical International Business Research Project .
- Global Perspective: MIM students have immersed themselves in real cultural experiences. Intense language classes focused on conversation combine with a 3-week Asia Study Tour to provide MIM students with highly marketable international expertise.
- Adaptability: The accelerated MIM program helps students adjust to the fast-paced working environment that exists today.

Recruiting & Outreach
Employers interested in hiring MIM graduates and in promoting their company have a variety of recruiting and outreach options:
- On-Campus Recruiting: For organizations that would like to conduct interviews on the Portland State campus, contact the Director of Career Services & Corporate Outreach in the Graduate Business Programs Office for assistance with planning a recruiting visit.
- Job Posting: The School of Business Administration offers a free job posting service to employers seeking to hire MIM graduates. To submit a job for posting, please create a description that includes the following:
o Brief description of your organization
o Outline of primary job tasks
o Degree requirement (MIM only, or any of the three Portland State Graduate Business Degrees)
o Contact information for resumes and cover letters - Internship Program: If your organization is interested in recruiting interns to work part-time during their MIM program, please visit the Internship Program page. Please note that the MIM program does not have a schedule that allows for a full-time summer internship.
- Additional Recruiting Opportunities: The School of Business Administration is always willing to work with business partners to design unique recruiting programs and events. For example, several business partners have hosted information sessions on the Portland State campus prior to interviews or job postings. These sessions help MIM program students to get to know the businesses better and also learn how they might be able to meet each business’ employment needs. Other business partners host events at their worksite specifically for graduate business students. These sessions invite students to learn more about the organization, its culture, career paths and the positions for which they are recruiting. To find out more about how this individualized recruiting option might work for your business, contact the Director of Career Services & Corporate Outreach for contact information.
To post a job announcement, please email it to the Contact the Director of Career Services & Corporate Outreach in the Graduate Business Programs Office.
